      Prep-Boys-Hockey-2023-24

The Prep Hockey Spartans joined the QIHL in 2017-18 and was a member of the RSEQ from 2021 to 2024. In 2024-25, the team will make its debut with the Canadian Sport School Hockey League and will also compete in the new Northern Schools Hockey Conference. The team is comprised of recruited student-athletes from Grades 9 to 12. The very best prep players move on to our varsity team.

  • Athlete of the Week: Trofim Godochkin

    The student-athlete from Prague, had a very impressive start to the playoffs. After the long March break, he led the charge in our ¼ final game against Selwyn house posting 4 goals and 3 assists in 2 games. His was also very responsible defensively in the series. Athlete of the week, from Prep Boys Hockey, Trofim Godochkin.
  • Athlete of the Week: Ian Nicholson

    This student-athlete from Darien, Connecticut had a tremendous weekend on and off the ice. Ian put the prep boys hockey team and his teammates above his own personal objectives. He stayed disciplined, blocked shots and was a positive presence on the bench. His coach said, “It was awesome to see such a great attitude coming from one of the leaders on the team. As the team heads into playoffs, this is the character we need to see.” Ian was rewarded for his efforts by scoring the game-winning goal on Saturday. For his great overall attitude and his game winning goal, athlete of the week, from Prep Boys Hockey, Ian Nicholson.
  • Athlete of the Week: Adam Larsson

    From Turku, Finland, Adam Larsson took the reins of the Spartan attack during Friday night’s prep boys hockey win vs Selwyn House, scoring three of the team’s four goals in a 4-3 win. Showing tremendous leadership on and off the ice, Adam led the charge again during Saturday’s 10-1 win over Selwyn House, posting two more goals and one assist.  For putting up a total of five goals and one assist in two games and for his tremendous leadership, congratulations Athlete of the Week Adam Larsson.
  • Changing of the Guard for Prep Boys Hockey

    Stanstead’s prep boys hockey team will see a change in the coaching staff for the 2022-2023 season. James Rioux will be stepping down as head coach after 7 years to focus solely on his role as Director of Hockey Operations. Taking his place will be former NHL player Olivier Magnan. Coaching by his side and continuing his responsibilities with the team will be assistant coach, Guy Ouellet.

  • Hockey Weekend Recap - April 28 - May 1

    Over the past weekend, the prep boys competed in the RSEQ M18 D1 Provincial Championship in Quebec City, and the varsity girls headed to Winnipeg, Manitoba to compete in the Female World Sports School Championship (FWSSC).

  • Athlete of the Week: Adam Larsson

    This past week the prep boys hockey team played their semi-final series vs College St-Anne. Friday night the team were in a 2-2 tie before this first-year Grade 10 student from Turku, Finland sniped the game winner and then added an empty netter for a 4-2 win.

  • Hockey Weekend Update – March 11-13 

    Championship wins, heartbreak losses, and regular season play fueled this weekend’s Spartans Hockey. Varsity girls competed in the JWHL Playoff Tournament in Boston, Varsity Boys competed in the CPSHA Championship Tournament in Toronto and both prep teams held down the fort at home.

  • Athlete of the Week: Eli Antoine

    This past weekend the prep boys hockey team played three games in three days, and Eli Antoine from Varennes, Quebec was a force to be reckoned with, leading the Spartan charge. Overall, he tallied 5 goals and 3 assists in the three games, resulting an 8-point performance. Statistics aside, Eli was simply a dominant leader, competing hard and generating opportunities every time he was on the ice. Most importantly, this Grade 11 student plays the game the right way, with gentlemanly class and sportsmanship. It was great team effort this weekend, and Eli was a big part of it. Congratulations, Eli. 
  • Hockey Week Recap - December 1-5

    Varsity girls and prep boys traveled to their respective tournaments in Ontario and Quebec City over the weekend. The varsity boys were away across the border for the weekend. The prep girls held down the fort here at home for a pair of games.

    The varsity boys headed to Minnesota to compete in one exhibition game and the 2021 Upper Midwest HS International Invitational Tournament. Also on the road, the prep girls headed to Port Hope to face Trinity College School for a double-header. The prep boys stayed home to host John Rennie in a pair of games.
