At Stanstead College since…
I have been working at Stanstead College since the 2001-2002 school year.
Hometown
I grew up in Baie-Comeau, Quebec and graduated from Baie-Comeau High School before attending St. Lawrence College in Quebec City for CEGEP.
If I had to describe my job it would be…
Director of Hockey Operations is my official title. I was also head coach of the our prep boys U16 team from 2015 to 2022 and the varsity boys hockey team from 2010 to 2015. I worked with Michael McNamara and Chris LaPerle as an assistant coach. I also coached junior boys soccer for many years.
In describing my job, I would say it’s definitely a juggling act of trying to balance both teaching, coaching and managing all of the hockey teams. Working in a prep school is a rewarding opportunity that also comes with great responsibility. I love working with kids. Every day is a new day to teach, guide and learn. My passion is teaching and coaching. My goal is to make the best of every day and help kids fulfill their own potential, and find their own passions.
When I’m not working at Stanstead College, I am...
Doing something fun with my two wonderful kids and partner. We enjoy going to farmers' markets in the Eastern Townships and exploring the great outdoors in Northern Vermont. The hiking, swimming and skiing options in this area are amazing.
A person/book/song/place/etc. that has inspired me
My inspiration in life comes from so many different sources. My family, for one, has been there for me. My parents' work ethic influenced me from a young age. They never pushed but always helped guide me to achieve my goals. Music/lyrics are important to me. I always have a song in the background wherever I am. Hard to imagine life without Pearl Jam or Neil Young on the radio. “Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.” Eddie Vedder
Other jobs I've had
Before teaching I enjoyed three amazing seasons working in Northern Quebec for a paper company previously owned by the Chicago Tribune. I was a trout fishing guide and spent my days on one of the most incredible fishing lakes I have ever seen – Lac Des Isles.
A thing you may not know about me
If I had to stop teaching school and coaching hockey, I would probably become a ski bum or go to cooking school. There is nothing more incredible than skiing down slopes at high speed. And, well, I love to cook too. Although the past two decades have been consumed by hockey and working to build one of the finest hockey programs in the country, believe it or not, I do enjoy other things than hockey.
Most memorable moment at Stanstead College
Back in the early 2000s when I climbed Tuckerman’s Ravine with my skis on my back at Mount Washington and skied down the bowl with a handful of eager students.
Finally...
I am beginning my 24th year at the school and now live in town with my wife Tania, 14-year-old son Benjamin, and 10-year-old daughter Emma.
