Varsity Hockey Players of the Month - December

Varsity Boys Offensive Player: Zackarie Michaud
The Grand Falls, New Brunswick product continues to pace the Spartan attack. Zackarie skates with pace offensively, and he along with linemates Kamyl Chemrouk and Ryan Dwyer are one of the top offensive combinations in prep hockey. His high motor and lethal shot continue to provide headaches for opposing defenders and goaltenders and has led to another successful month. The Spartans will count on Zackarie's consistent offensive play as they enter a busy month of January filled with strong New England and TNPHL league opponents.

Varsity Boys Defensive Player: Malik L'Italien
The November Defensive Player of the Month continues to dominate across all 200 feet of the rink and is critical to the Spartan lineup. Malik plays in all situations, effectively quarterbacking the first power play through his elite vision and puck-handling, efficiently transitioning the puck from defence to offence through his ability to defend and elude. He kills penalties by using his size and grit to battle players much older than him within the zone. The Grade 10 defenceman already plays a big role for the Spartans and looks to further his strong play in the month of January.

Varsity Girls Offensive Player: Isa MacPhee
Having captured the November Defensive Player of the Month, the defender adds another distinction because of her strong offensive play. Isa's vision, poise and strong edges make her dangerous when she rushes the puck up ice or when in the offensive zone. These assets combined with her elite hockey IQ have contributed to timely offence for the Spartans and has resulted in increased success for the team's powerplay. As the team looks towards a strong schedule in the second half of the season, Isa looks to continue to contribute at both ends of the ice for the Spartans.

Varsity Girls Defensive Player: Joliane Tremblay
The goaltender hailing from Trois-Rivieres, Quebec played an integral role for the Spartans, as she was counted on to shut down elite opposition at the USA-Canada Cup in Kitchener, Ontario and during JWHL league play. Joliane's ability to rise to the occasion and make timely saves to keep her team in the game was highlighted by a massive 2-1 overtime win over the Stoney Creek Sabres, consistently ranked in the top 5 in Canada, where she made 30 saves enroute to victory. Joliane's strong play is a result of relentless work ethic, acute attention to detail and a strong desire to win.
